What Is Liquidity in Gold Trading? Where the Orders Rest
In trading, liquidity simply means orders waiting to be filled. For a large participant to buy or sell a big position without moving price against themselves, they need plenty of opposite orders. Those orders tend to sit in predictable places.
Where liquidity collects
- Above obvious highs – stop-losses of short sellers and breakout buy orders.
- Below obvious lows – stop-losses of buyers and breakout sell orders.
- Around round numbers – gold reacts to levels such as 3300 or 3350.
- At session extremes – the Asian, London or New York high and low.
- At equal highs and lows – see equal highs and equal lows.
Why price is "drawn" to liquidity
Price does not know where orders are, but large players do, and resting orders provide the volume needed to fill size. A common pattern is a quick push through a level to collect those orders, followed by a reversal — the idea behind a liquidity sweep.

A practical routine

Limits
A level is not a prediction. Price may ignore it, and a break beyond it can be genuine. Liquidity tells you where to pay attention, not what will happen.
